Allow Me to Introduce Myself
My name is Ramon. I have gone by Ray since I was young. I chose Doppelganger Ray for two blended reasons. The first reason I use this name has to do with being a kid and looking up to superheroes. Then, you grow up and find a villain to understand life’s struggles. The first villain I chose was Galactus in Marvel comics. I found him fascinating, but the villain isn’t a villain; he is a necessary entity that must exist. I ventured off into other childhood villains from cartoons I loved watching, and Transformers was it. Having a deeply seated feeling about Optimus Prime, Megatron was not even a thought to consider. Starscream always annoyed me, and I really didn’t like how mean the rest of the Decepticons were. Keep in mind that people wrote the scripts to these cartoons, and if you think I may be a “man-child,” I am completely ok with it. Soundwave ended up being the only Decepticon I could relate to. He was in the high leadership ranks of the Decepticons and wasn’t particularly cruel. The dynamics of Soundwave extend to the cassettes he stored in his chest. These mini robots had a personality that Soundwave lacked and deeply expressed their loyalty to him. I can even see it as a type of love they have for him, and he in return. Soundwave was all brain, but his cassettes were his heart. I would even go so far as to say that they would fight Megatron if they had to. It wouldn’t happen because Megatron has shown as much loyalty to him as he has shown. I reflected back on Marvel and thought to think of a different villain, and at the time, it was all about Spider-Man. I loved watching the cartoons growing up. There is a villain named Doppelganger that he had to fight, and he is terrifying. I had arachnophobia when I was a kid, and Doppelganger brings that fear to the size of a man. The second reason was something I had noticed all my life and I thought it was cool to have the name in a lot of movies til it got to the point where a waitress (auto-correct suggested waitressganger, thought I would share that funny moment) said she had an ex-boyfriend named Ray and he wasn’t a good Ray. Henceforth, DoppelgangerRay. Online, people usually just call me Doppel. The meaning behind the name is; there are so many Ray’s everywhere now, and I don’t want to take responsibility for all the Rays in the world. Just a joke to myself.
